The Radiotherapy area of the Benidorm
Clinic Hospital provides the ITIC
high quality standards in radiotherapeutic
oncological treatments.
In order to achieve this objective,
it relies on state-of-the-art technological
facilities.
The most advanced technology - Varian 2100 CD linear electron
accelerator:
capable of producing photon beams
on two energy levels and electron
beams on six energy levels.
It has two multileaf collimators:
one for large fields, and another
micromultileaf collimator for high-precision
treatment, such as radiosurgery, stereotaxic
radiotherapy, or Intensity-Modulated
Radiotherapy (IMRT).
- High-level planners linked to CAT,
MR and PET-CAT:
capable of carrying out actions ranging
from virtual simulation to multiconformal,
stereotaxic three-dimensional treatments,
and intensity-modulated radiation
by inverse calculation.
- High- and specific-dosage brachytherapy
system: Adequate for performing early-stage
prostate cancer treatments using permanent
implants with I-125 “seeds”
guided by echo navigation, equipped
with a real-time dosimetry system
using inverse calculation and a system
for automatic seed release, with feedback
on final location for final dosimetry
at the time of implanting.
All these systems enable us to design, develop
and administer radiotherapeutic treatments
reflecting excellence:
maximum technical quality and safety
for our patients.
Techniques of highly complex radiotherapyThe
technological support of ITIC’s
Radiotherapy Section makes it possible
to carry out all types of conventional
treatment in radiotherapy, including
total body irradiation or total cutaneous
irradiation with electrons. Moreover,
it is specially designed to carry out
techniques of highly complex radiotherapy,
such as:
- Three-dimensional Multiconformal Radiotherapy
- Radiosurgery
- Fractioned Stereotaxic Radiotherapy
- Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT)
- Endocavitary and Interstitial Brachytherapy
- Intraoperatory Brachytherapy
- Prostate Gland Brachytherapy with
Ir-192 temporal implants
- Permanent implants using I-125 seeds
in prostate
Cancer.
ITIC:
a project for persons by persons.
The fight against cancer is doubtless
one of the bloodiest battles which,
for decades, has constantly challenged
medical research,
a long war in which doctors increasingly
have more resources at their disposal.
Unfortunately, however, in this war,
the battlefield is the human being himself
and his life. The medical profession
is a profound vocation.
Care for our patients, for each person
involved, with their lives, their anecdotes,
their projects, their passions, their
will to live, etc., is the stimulus
that drives us every day at the ITIC
to renew our enthusiasm for medicine
and our vocation for people.
The ITIC has carefully hand-picked its
professionals in the search for an equilibrium
between: technology, diagnostics –
therapeutics, and personal profile.
The patient forms part of our team and
we dedicate all our efforts to him.
